Second event today was the Summer Sizzle, held this year at C-Hunts in north Austin. It is a pretty good location, with lots of shaded seating, and a great band area. This year we had the COC&I meeting right before the Sizzle, and before that the Blood Mobile showed up at lunch time so folks to donate blood. The COC&I meeting went well, as usual, and it was kept fairly short so everyone could get on with the party. Dennis’ new business BBQforChirst.org was there to provide the food, which was BBQ chicken, and Sausage, with Potato salad on the side, and beans of course. It was very good I might add! The event is a benefit for J.W. Rock, and also to assist out lead club in their annual effort to get to Sturgis. I must say they put on a great party. One highlight of the afternoon was the raffle give away of a 46 inch TV. Congrats to HookUp of B.A.C.A. for having the winning ticket. Later in afternoon, Debbie decided she wanted to give blood, so we walked over to the Blood Mobile and she when through the “process”, while I volunteered to take pictures. Don’t worry, she wouldn’t let me post any really gross ones. Finally we headed home, and I stopped on the way and took this picture of the clouds. Nice clouds today! Oh, yes, and God helped keep the heat down with some occasional shade clouds and breeze! We thoroughly enjoyed the Sizzle, and I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Ok, it wasn’t the first stop of the day, first, we had to take my Road King to Hardtailz Choppers, to drop it off, so Forrest can fix my broken footboard. The breaking, happened last week, while we were out on a chapter ride, going over a cattle guard. Don’t ask! Ok, so then we headed over to Central Texas harley Davidson to pick up a part for the footboard, and look at some bikes. Oh, yes, and Debbie wanted to try on a helmet.
Our last event of the day was the Tornados Fish Fry. Don and Kenny beat us to Hanover’s, as Debbie and I took the back roads way there from Dale’s Essen Haus. Anyway, I had some great fried fish, very tasty! Again, it was well attended. I took a couple of spins of the wheel of Knives, and won Debbie some cool jamys (sometime known as pajamas). Now it is off to home for some cool cool-down. And picture posting of course. Did we really go to three events today? What were we thinking?
As you can see from the last picture, we packed the house at Dale’s Essen Haus in Walburg with the joint meeting of UCOA and UCOW. It was a hot day, but we had lots of people there, probably over 200. It was very good that we met inside, in the air conditioning.
Also, note the nice picture of Jimmi and his Nephew, and oh, yes, Jimmi’s new ride.
Today we have three events we are attending, and temperatures are predicted to be about 100 degrees. So, to start off the adventure, we are having breakfast at 1431 Cafe, up on, you guessed it 1431. The food was great, then we were off in two groups of about seven, for a ride in the hill country, before it gets too hot (ho ho). Well, the for was great, oops, I said that. The ride was good, with temperatures rising slowly. Only problem was on the way back, as I was crossing the last cattle guard, I noticed that Don and Susan ahead of me got a pretty good bounce w, so I decided to stand up while crossing the guard. I have done this lots of time, with no problem, but this time, my left footboard decided it was time to break off. Well, not off exactly, but the rear mound broke. I managed to recover, and pull over for a look see, and sure enough, the bracket had broken. Ok, no for some tywraps to get me home. That lasted a little while, then out came the bungee cord, which work much better and lasted long enough to get home. Looks like I will be buying some parts.
