inMonday was a special day, it was the day my oldest Grandson started kindergarten. His first day of actual almost school. He had a great time. Of course they start school out slowly, they don’t hit them with homework right away, but it is a very important step in the life lessons that will lead him to become a man. A friend of mine at work just had their first child a few weeks ago. As a first time parent, I am sure they are thinking that they should have had some kind of training before being dropped into this most important of all jobs, but eventually they will see that being the parent of a newborn is actually the easy part of being a parent. Just wait until they turn 13. So, what does all this have to do with us, we are bikers after all? Well, while we may not all be parents, and while we are certainly not the parent of our fellow club members, there is still an aspect of “taking care of our brothers and sisters”, that has some similarities to parenting. After all, one of our goals, as members of this organization (UCOA), is to present a responsible image to the community so that we all get to keep the freedoms we have. Now I am not saying we don’t like to party, we do, but we also watch over our fellow members to keep them safe. I personally believe that God likes a party too. In 2 Samuel 6:14-15; King “David, …, danced before the LORD with all his might, while he and the entire house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets.”. That was one big party. So, let us enjoy our parties, our benefits, our barbecue and our taco plates, as we continue to enjoy our freedoms while we watch over our brothers and sisters. Can I get an AMEN?

inOur New Life Riders chapter had a ride today to Longhorn Caverns out on Park Road 4. We thought it was going to get to 104 today, so Debbie and I took the car instead of the bike. Well it didn’t get that hot, in fact it only got up to the mid 90s today. Bummer for us, but good for everyone else, as we took lots of pictures from the car following the group. Anyway, we had a great time and it was really nice being in the cavern and cool. Then it was off to The Maxican on 281 for some mexican food. My first time there, and both the food and service were outstanding. Finally we headed home for some rest. I know I will get some of that eventually, just as soon as I post these pictures. Enjoy!
Note: I apologize for many of the pictures being out of order, I can’t seem to get WordPress to put them in the right order :-{
