We went with visiting family to the Mammoth National Monument yesterday. It was very impressive actually, and I really enjoyed it. Highly recommended. I’m not going to mention the city it is in, but many of you reading this will understand my trepidation about going there. Anyway, we managed to get in and out safely, and even got to experience a pretty great burger and shake at a local burger joint before heading home. I hope you enjoy the photos;

Well, today was a full day. Fortunately all this took place at the same location, so we just headed over to Central Texas Harley Davidson this morning. First was the meet and greet with Christopher Ward, a conservative who is running for House of Representatives District 52. He is a great guy, and I wish I lived in his district. The meet and greet also included a Holiday Food Drive benefiting The Veterans Collective and Clubs For Kids. Next up was the Chili Cookoff. I think this is about the fifth year it has been happening because my friend Ragu said he has been trying to win it for five years. Keep trying Ragu! Your chili was very good, though it might have been on the “a bit too hot” side this year. Finally we had the COC&I meeting, led by our Region 1 Commander MiniMe. We heard from several speakers and then after Honor Bound Frank’s closing prayer they announced the cookout winners. Well, it’s time for my nap. Enjoy the pics;

We had the Christian Unity meeting this evening, with pretty good attendance, and great socializing as usual. We talked about planning another HOBO (Help Our Brothers Out) rally in February or March next year, and for the spiritual time, Frank asked us to share things we are grateful for. That turned out pretty neat. Oh, and honor Bound Hoss had a birthday, so there was cake. IT just doesn’t get any better than that.

We got together at Bentwood for the November UCOA meeting, and as usual we had a good crowd. The primary activity this month was the distribution of the Clubs For Kids family information sheets so we can all get started preparing for the December Christmas delivery. Clubs For Kids through UCOA is helping over 50 families this year have a wonderful Christmas, and we can’t wait. It’s going to be a great Christmas.

I have been reading about the first Twin Peaks trial for a week or so, and it reminds me that we all have many things to be thankful for. Some of us here today were there, but were delayed enough to prevent our arrest. I know I am very thankful that I was late, and I thank God for his protection that day. But, not everyone was prevented from being there, and we need to be praying for all those whose lives are still on hold because of that dreadful day. And of course we need to continue to pray for and help those who have lost loved ones.
But, I am still thankful for many things. Our community has survived, and has even grown over these past two and a half years. Things are different, but we still share a love for each other and a love for motorcycling. Notice that I mentioned motorcycling second. Some of us ride less, some much less, but Bandido Smokey still entertains us with his golf cart racing.
I am thankful to be a part of this big family we call UCOA, and the blessing it has been to Debbie and me.
It is a privilege to share our blessings with families at Christmas, whether it is through Clubs For Kids, Helping Hands Home, or Texas Baptists Children’s Home. As we bless the children, they are in turn are thankful.
I am also truly thankful that I can call each of you my friend.
2 Corinthians 9:11 “You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”
I am thankful for you, and I am thankful for God who holds us in His mighty hand. I pray this coming Thanksgiving and Christmas season will be a blessing to you and yours. How about you?
