Hanovers Draught House, Latin Steel MC, Rainy Day

We went to the Latin Steel benefit on this rainy day. I was a little concerned about how much participation they would get in such inclement weather, but i needn’t have been concerned,, as lots of people came out in support. As is their norm, Latin Steel served up some very good Taco Plates. I saw a post from Doris last evening, looking for 1000 taco shells, and I guess she found them cause there didn’t seem to be any shortage. Along with food, they also had a twice an hour raffle drawing, impromptu arm wresting, and though they couldn’t get the guys to come up and dance to the song YMCA, some of the women did volunteer. It was entertaining to say the least. Good people, and good fun.

Now, about the photos. I took the wrong camera for an indoor event, so I apologize that some of them are kind of blurry. I will try to do better next time.

We had the October UCOA meeting at Texas Mist this evening, and it was packed. This was the debut of our new officers for 2016. Vice Grip Matt will be Chairman, Beth is Secretary, Shannon is VP and I will continue on as Chaplain. Matt did very well herding our meeting to a good conclusion. There are lots of events coming up, so be sure to check the UCOTexas web site and calendar for details.

Healing – UCOA Chaplains Moment for Oct 21st

I have a friend who was in the military, and saw some pretty bad stuff happen to people while he was serving. The result of this was that he doubted God’s existence. It was illogical to him that a loving God would allow the horrors he experienced to happen to innocent people. Those of us who haven’t been in his shoes probably can’t really understand how he felt, but I can guess that I wouldn’t want to have been in his shoes. Some years ago he decided that he didn’t believe in God any more, declared himself an atheist, and went on a crusade to prove that God doesn’t exist. He scoured the Bible and all kinds of religious teaching in search of arguments that would prove once and for all that God didn’t exist.

My friend is also a lucid dreamer and has suffered night terrors most of his life. He would be asleep in bed and dream that he was tied up and couldn’t get up. he would struggle and fight against the bonds and eventually wake up more exhausted than when he went to sleep. Then one night not long ago he was asleep dreaming and having the same dream, but this time was able to break the bonds and get out of bed. He was still asleep, and he began having an argument with someone about the whether the world was flat or round. He would drop things and try to prove that because the world was round they wouldn’t drop straight down. He even dropped a bowling ball out a second story window of his house trying to prove that it wouldn’t land straight down. All this while he was sleep.

Then finally, while still dreaming he remembered seeing the full moon from a vantage point in the southern tip of Chile while in the military. He remembered how it looked different than back home in upstate New York. The moon from the southern Hemisphere. It was upside down almost. At this realization the dream ended, he cried aloud, I’ve seen the truth, why have I doubted it? And the next immediate thought was “Isn’t that what you’ve done to Me?” (in doubting God’s existence). Overwhelmed my friend collapsed in sorrow and humiliation, realizing the truth and gravity of that thought. Not only did God exist, but He loved him so much that He would come to him and speak to him personally at just the right moment. God was willing to do whatever it took to break through to my friend.

Now, I am not going to tell you that my friend doesn’t still have things he needs to work through, he does, But now the process can begin, and God can start healing those wounds.

Here is an example of what God will do for us;

Psalm 34:17-20 “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them. He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all;”

And finally, this is what Christ went through for us;

Isaiah 53:5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Jesus is the healer. He is healing me, and He can heal you. Talk to me if you want to know more.

Crossroads MC Patching Party at Hanovers in Pflugerville

Crossroads MC, Hanovers, Patching Party

Our final stop for the evening was at Hanovers for the Crossroads Patching Party. We had been to a colors party a few weeks ago for Karibenos MC, where several new members received their full patched colors, but this was somewhat different. Crossroads was an RC, and is switching to be an MC, so all the members changed their vests to indicate they were now a Motorcycle Club instead of a Riding Club. Not really a ceremony, just a nice party, and as usual Hanovers is a great place to host a party. As you can see from the photos, everyone had a great time and it was a very laid back affair. Congratulations to Crossroads MC.

Anniversary Party, Companeros MC, Earl Hinton, Execution By Music, Texas Mist

Our second stop was out to Texas Mist to the Companeros MC’s 19th Anniversary Party. Lots of good people, food, and the music was great. First up was Earl Hinton, with some solo guitar and vocals. As you will see from the photos, he is a character. Next up was EBM Execution By Music. They are always entertaining. I posted a video on their Facebook page; Quite an event! Next up will be the Crossroads MC Patching party. Till then enjoy the photos (and video).
