We had our Seasons of Refreshing yesterday and today in fairfield, which is about a 2 1/2 hour drive north east of Austin. Debbie and I drove up yesterday afternoon, using Hy79, which was great as there was little traffic. The conference was held in the First Baptist Church of Fairfield, which is a very beautiful traditional building with pews and stained glass windows. Very nice. The actual conference was very good too, John Ogden Jr our Regional Evangelist was the primary speaker and he gave a very grace filled message. We had BBQ for lunch on Saturday. I took about 40 of my Moments books along, and gave them all away. Oh, you will see some photos that may look strange, so I should mention that we had some skits to illustrate some of John’s teaching point.
There is a lot of evil running rampant in the world today. As a friend of mine might say, these people are doing evil because they are following their “Stinkin’ Thinkin'”. They are not only throwing out the God of Love, they are embracing other gods of hate and dare I say it, Jihad.
Fortunately, as you can see from my reference verses below, the rest of us don’t need to be stressed about that because we have the GOD that is able to accomplish His plans, and no matter what kind of Stinkin’ Thinkin’ people might dream up, He will bring their plans to nothing.
So, be of good cheer, everything is in control, and everything Will be accomplish exactly as it is supposed to be, by the One who is Able !!
Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
This last set of shots are of our visits to our legislators. This group is obviously not complete, since Debbie and i only visited our two legislators, and then tagged along with a few others that we happened to see while walking around. Be assured that many more legislators were visited than are shown in these few photos.
We started out Legislative Day at the Austin Statesman parking lot. This is a very convenient location to form up, as it is only about 15 blocks from the Capital, right up Congress. We definitely got a good crowd, and Christian Unity led by Honor Bound and assisted by all the other Christian clubs provided coffee, water and donuts before everyone headed up to the Capital.
