COC&I, Legislative Strike Force, UCOW, US Defenders

We decided to attend a benefit up in Waco held at EIGHT-eleven Sports Bar to raise funds to help cover the cost of starting up the new Legislative Strike Force that will be working directly with local, state and national legislators to protect the rights of all motorcyclists. We had BBQ plates, with a selection of two different kinds of homemade beans, and this was accompanied by chips and salsa. The music was provided by Billy Bones and the Nasty Habits, and they were very entertaining. We had a great time, it is always fun listening to music and talking to friends.

Texas Mist, UCOA

We had our November meeting for UCOA at the usual location, Texas Mist. We talked mostly about the NCOM meeting that we just had last weekend, and the few benefits and toy runs coming up in December. There were a couple of donation checks for JWRock, and we heard we will be getting our family info on Dec 3rd at a specially called meeting at Texas Mist. Afterwords, there was a Presidents meeting to get feedback on how 2014 went, and suggestions on how things could be improved for 2015. We are allowing forward to Legislative day January 26th 2015.

Survival and Dependency – UCOA Moment for November 19th

If you attended the NCOM meeting this past weekend, you may have heard Senator Brian Birdwell’s speech about surviving the Pentagon attack on Sept. 11th, 2001. It was a testimony of survival and dependancy. He gives credit for his survival to the brave, selfless people who came to his aid, and to God, for placing them in the right place at just the right time. Without their intervention he would have surely died. In the middle of horrendous events it can be hard to believe that God cares, or even exists. But, looking back, Senator Birdwell now sees God’s hand in all the circumstances of his survival. It is an amazing story. If you missed it, you might want to look it up.

Romans 8:37-39
“in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor demons, nor things present, nor things to come, nor any spiritual rulers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

I know many of you have or are going through difficult circumstance. When you feel discouraged, remember; God is still working on your story. Will you trust Him with it?

Brian Birdwell, NCOM, NCOM Region 2, Tony Tinderholt

We went to the NCOM Region 2 meeting in Austin yesterday at the Crown Plaza. We were hoping for really good attendance, and I think we exceeded out expectations. The weather was pretty cold, and it turned rainy Saturday, but we more than filled the meeting room space available. We heard a bunch of good speakers, including TX Senator Brian Birdwell and TX Representative Tony Tinderholt. We heard about the “Dead RED” bill that we will be pushing forward, and the Texas Legislative Strike Force was introduced, that will be a structural replacement for TMRA2. Recruiting or representatives for the TLSF began, and we hope to get two representatives from each NCOM region. In addition, we will be working closer with ABATE, Texas Motorcycle Safety Coalition, and others to present a unified front to our legislators.

Debbie and I also worked with the NCOM Christian Unity group to provide a 24h/day hospitality room during Friday afternoon through Sunday Morning. Coffee, tea, soda, snacks and meals were available to all attendees, from cookie, donuts and sandwiches, to homemade chili Friday evening with chips and nacho cheese, to BBQ Brisket plates with fixin’s Saturday afternoon. Everyone had a great time. Special thank you to the Pleasant Hills children’s home in Fairfield Texas, for providing the gallons of Nacho Cheese. Wow, biker do love cheese!

I recorded video of last part of Senator Birdwell’s presentation, and also videos of the CMA Sunday service. here are links to those videos on Facebook. You don’t need a Facebook account to view them.

Christian Unity, NCOM Austin

Well, Debbie and I got back from our cruise Sunday afternoon, and here we are Tuesday at the Christian Unity meeting. As you can see from the photos we had a good sized group for this our last planning meeting for the Region 2 NCOM meeting this weekend. I think we got all the details ironed out, and it should be a great weekend. All the festivities start Friday evening, and finish up Sunday morning with Don Potter providing the Sunday services. Flyer is at the bottom.
