It has been said that “Time heals all wounds”, but that really isn’t true. Time may take off the edges, but it doesn’t heal them. The truth is that only God can heal some wounds, and to do that we have to let Him. And, even when we make a conscious decision to let Him heal us, it can still take a lot o time, often years. You see, we have a tendency to hang on to our wounds and savor them like a fine wine. Playing them over and over again in our mind. I’m sure many of you know what I am talking about. Some of you have vowed never to forget, and actively try to remember every day. Others of you realize you’re wounds need healing that only God can provide, and you actively seek to place your wounds at His feet.
Matt 11:28-29 Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
As we approach the four year anniversary of those tragic events, I would ask us all to seek closure. It is not over, there are still over a hundred cases pending, but we can at least say that the end is in site. We still need to support our brothers, emotionally, physically and financially. For some of us, life will never be the same. This is especially true for the families of those that lost their lives that day. I pray for God’s healing to touch them in a special way, and I believe they are being held especially close to God’s heart.
Psalm 103:1-5 “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your sin, who heals all your wounds, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD works righteousness and Justice for all who are opposed.”
I for one trust God to heal our Wounds and to mete out His Justice. How about you?
