We headed out this morning to Heritage Motorcycle Supply, as the first stop for the benefit being put on for Boot Campaign. We were a little late, so we arrived at the shop about the time most everyone was heading over to Willie’s Joint for the music and BBQ. But we did get a nice tour of the HMS by one of the owners, and they are certainly busy, with lots of bike to work on. I think that’s a good thing 🙂
Next we headed over to Willie’s Joint for lunch and the party. There was a good crowd, but we did manage to find a place to park, and walked in to enjoy the company, the music, and of course the food. Speaking of the food, Debbie and I shared a 1/2 lb of pulled pork, which was plenty to make some sandwiches, with enough left over to dig through with a fork, to finish off what was left. They were having a bike show, so we voted in that, and later they presented some really nice trophies to the winners. All in all, a pretty good day.
Oh, one more thing;
After we left the party, we headed up to St Davids South, to visit with Jim Ostrander who runs Texas Mist. I had read that he was in the hospital having a few “problems”. Unfortunately for us (fortunately for Jim), he was discharged yesterday, so he wasn’t there. It was all good though, as we were leaving I was able to talk with an elderly man (yes there are people older than me still around) who was in for some work on his heart. We talked for a few minutes, and I was able to pray with I’m before I left, and I also gave him a copy of my book (of course I did). Anyway, I pray he will fully recover fully from his issues, and in talking with him, He mentioned he was a retired pastor. Small wold. He is in God’s hands, where there is no safer place to be.
