I spent some time this evening looking back through my blog to find out how long I have been Chaplain. Turns out I was elected chaplain in 2009, so It has been six years. I must say it has been quite a ride, and as Debbie would say, an adventure. This marks only the second time I can remember not being an officer since I was first elected to Vide President back in 1999 or 2000. I do know I was first elected to the Chaplain position in 2002.
I would like to close out this “run” with a section of my very first published article from when I was VP;
From VP’s Verisimilitudes – December 2002
“When I made myself available, God did the work, I just had to show up. That is after all what it is all about, being available, and showing up. I ride my bike to rallys, for lots of reasons, some of them selfish (I like to buy stuff from the vendors), but …, well, now that I think about it, all my reasons are selfish. You see, I also go because of the joy I receive from seeing God work at the rallies, and on the hyways and byways. I truely do get a kick out of seeing miraculous things happen in ordinary situations. Whether it is sharing the gospel, encouraging someone, or working rally registration. When God is in control, exciting things happen. So, if you are having trouble getting motivated to get up and get out there, understand the war for what it is. Acknowledge the truth, God wants you out there so he can use you. Get up and get going, the rewards far exceed cost.”
And finally, for Louis, these words; Speak from your heart, and Christ will always accomplish His purpose because your heart belongs to Him.
Thank you for a great six years.
As Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven”.
A new season begins, and it’s going to be great!
