I had a really good time at the COC&I Rally this past weekend. It was exhausting, but it was a lot of fun. Of course bikers can have fun in different ways, like watching bike games, or maybe participating in them. One game in particular caught my attention. I never learned the name of it, but it is a game where one person is pulled behind a bike while riding a tire tied to the end of a rope. It was very entertaining.

I don’t think I will be playing that game though, I think most of my iron man days are behind me. But, I did have a lot of fun.

For me, the fun was wandering around, talking to people and seeing God work through our conversations.

One conversation in particular stuck with me. I was talking with really rough looking guy (you know your typical biker) that didn’t look like he would put up with any crap from anybody, and all of a sudden I heard these words come out of my mouth; “are you a God fearing man?”. That was a bit of a surprise for me, since I’m not usually that forward. But what was even more surprising was his response. He said “No, I don’t fear God, but I do love God”. Talk about direct and to the point. He went on to say “My relationship is between me and God, and I don’t like to talk about it much.”

I think there are a lot of people like him, they believe, but they don’t always talk about it. I think that’s ok though, because there is a verse in the Bible, James 2:18, that says (my paraphrase) “I will show my love for God by my actions”…. As the old saying goes, talk is cheap, but actions speak volumes.

In this community, we understand that we don’t say something unless we mean to back it up with our actions. I know it is my desire, to be a man of my word, and to illustrate the truth of my words by my actions.

That is my prayer for each of us, that our lives (and actions) will stand firm in the truth, whether we choose talk about it or not.
