Our church has been working toward this for almost a year, and tonight we hosted the J. J. Weeks Band for a free concert for the community. We distributed flyers, posted on Facebook, and even had a radio announcement. I can only say, that the band was great, the sausage wraps were great, and we all had a wonderful time. Now as it turned out, there was a bit of a problem. Seems that the band’s equipment trailer broke a leaf suspension spring on their way to the concert.  Fortunately it was discovered relatively early Saturday afternoon, so we were able to locate a replacement spring at a local shop within the Austin area. So, some people went off to buy the spring while the concert proceeded without a hiccup.  After the concert, we all (well, I took pictures) jumped in to help get it replaced. The whole process took about an hour to repair, then everyone helped reload the trailer with all that equipment, and the band was on the road shortly after 10pm. Another neat thing that happened, was that the 7th Day Adventist church down the road heard the concert as they were heading in for their Saturday service, so after they finished, several of them came down to see what all the excitement was about.  Unfortunately the concert itself was over by then, but they were glad to help with the trailer repair and subsequent equipment loading. Thank you Lord for new friends. All in all, a pretty exciting day.

I did get some video of the last song, where the band brought the “extra” singers up on stage, and I will try to get that posted tomorrow.

As promised, here is the link to the Youtube video: http://youtu.be/DnEKq8a_12M
