We had our first UCOA meeting this year, and to change things up a bit, it was held out at Earnie’s on the Lake. It was certainly a great place for a party, or a meeting. Plenty of parking, and lots of room. Several events were mentioned, so be sure to check out the calendar at; http://www.ucotexas.org/index.php/calendar. As Debbie and I were heading out we encountered Bandido Smokey just arriving, with a couple of fellows. Seem his friend had recently lost a son to a motorcycle accident and he (the father) was asked to come to Washington to speak to President Trump about it. If you look close at the last photo, you will see a White House Presidential Seal napkin he brought back for Smokey.
We drove out to the Brushy Creek Bar this evening for Bandido Smokey’s 47th anniversary party. The bar is kind of out in the middle of no-where, but no-one seemed to have any trouble finding it cause there were lots of people there. While we share there, Roughstock RC asked me to take a picture of their entire club, with their banner. As you might imagine, shooting a portrait with limited lighting can be a serious challenge, but fortunately I brought a tripod, and they all managed to stand like statues so I could get a decent shot. Not bad really, no flash, just natural “flood” light 🙂
Our second activity today was to attend Bandido Smokey’s birthday party at Hanovers in Pflugerville this evening. We arrived a little after 8pm, and there were already lots of people there. We said hello to Smokey and wished him a happy birthday. He is a great guy, and well loved by everyone in the community. Snacks, and chips, including various kinds of sandwiches were provided and there was plenty to go around. We chatted with Smokey for a while, and then headed out to visit with everyone. Great evening. We will be sure to be here next year Smokey, same time, same place.
We saw on Facebook that Bandido Smokey was having his 70th birthday party at Hanovers this evening, so naturally we took that as an invitation and went on over. We got to enjoy a wonderful time socializing with Smokey and about 100 of his closest friends. Food was provided in the form of little sandwich wraps, fruit, chips, and dip. After snacks there was of course cake. Congratulations Smokey!
