Spring Meltdown, Stardust Lounge

Well Spring melted down today for the Spring Meltdown. It was 92 degrees out there, which isn’t all that hot forTexas, but it sure felt hot compared to the temperature a few weeks ago. It was held at the StarDust Club in South Austin which has decent AC so we could get out of the heat when needed. The food was Carne Guisada plates with all the fixings, and it was very good. There was lots of time to talk to friends, and meet new people. They also had the usual raffles and later there was to be a live auction. Well Done!

Spring Meltdown, Texas Mist

We had the Spring Meltdown at Texas Mist today, complete with chopped brisket sandwiches and silent raffle. There were lots of people, and lots of relaxing conversations. Oh, and the really good news is that the rain held off, but still managed to keep the temperatures down. Another good day. I also managed to get a few people to stand still for individual portraits, which made me happy 🙂

Midway Field House, Spring Meltdown

We went to the Midway Field House this afternoon for the Spring Meltdown. Fortunately the weather hasn’t quite reached the meltdown stage yet this year so nobody actually melted as far as I know. There was a good turnout, for a good cause. The Meltdown was raising funds for the families effected by the disastrous events of May last year. They had excellent burger plates for lunch, and we were glad they did cause we definitely brought our appetites. There were a bunch of raffle drawings for some pretty nice items, including some hand made hunting knives. We didn’t win, maybe next time. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and I got so pretty good pics. Also, I brought the last of my Moments volume 2 and gave those away. I received several donations, so I guess I better order some more. Oh, and finally you will notice a picture in the set of Michael “Tilt” with a bright red injury on his right arm. Seems he had a running with a pothole this morning in down town Austin and the pothole won. Heal quickly Tilt!

Shield of Faith Benefit, Spring Meltdown, Texas Mist, UCOA meeting

We had the April UCOA meeting this evening at Texas Mist. We had a big group tonight, and we have lots of events coming up. In particular the Spring Meltdown is this Saturday and the Shield of Faith benefit is a week from Saturday. Both of these activities are important as they are raising funds to assist the families that are still struggling after the disastrous events of May 17th last year. Much assistance has been provided, but much more is needed. The flyers are included below the photos of this evening. Oh, and I was blessed to announce my latest book Moments 2 which is a collection of Chaplains moments and photos from 2014 to 2015 and to give away most of the copies I had. If you didn’t get one, ask me when you see me, and fear not I will order more when I get low, which is about now.
