I decided not to go to the ROT Rally this year, mostly because I had just returned from a high school graduation in week long trip to California (Congratulation Claire!), and Work is heating up to near the boiling point, so I felt I needed to spend time on that. (What was I thinking?) Anyway, Debbie did go to the rally on Friday and Saturday, and I managed to get out there on Sunday for the church service and the tear down of the hospitality tent. So, even though I wasn’t there, Debbie did a pretty good job of the taking pictures thing. Enjoy!

UCOA Meeting for May at Bentwood Texas in Georgetown

Debbie and I went to the UCOA meeting out at the Bentwood Texas event center in Georgetown after church today. We had very good attendance, at a great location, and fortunately the rain held off as well and we have pleasant temperatures. The main focus of the meeting was about the upcoming ROT Rally, and we were strongly encouraged to keeper eyes open while riding, to watch out for all those RVs with bikes on trailers trying to get to the rally. As someone once said, it’s going to be hot, it’s going to be crazy out there on the roads, so keep your head on a swivel and drink lots of water. Definitely a good recommendation.

Christian Unity Meeting for April at Bill Miller’s BBQ

We had the Christian Unity meeting at Bill Miller’s BBQ this evening. As usual, the food was good. we also talked about the following events;

  1. Max Ride is Saturday at Cowboy HD.
  2. The New Life Riders Bug Run is also Saturday up at Burger University.
  3. At the ROT Rally outside the gate, Christian Unity will be be having free bike washes.
  4. At the UCOA Family Campout in June (23rd-25th), Christian Unity will be providing Sunday morning breakfast and Sunday service, including a full worship band, immediately following the breakfast.

We had the UCOA meeting this evening, with several new events being announced. It was also especially good that ROT is over, and no one from the community was killed or severely damaged in the process. The anti-profiling protest Saturday came off without a hitch, and it was great to have some out of state visitors here in support. Of course one of the highlights of the meeting was the visit from Senator Kirk Watson in support of the cause. Be sure t check out the UCOA calendar on UCOTexas.org.

Ok,last full day of the ROT Rally. First up was the anti-profiling meeting up in the SkyBox in the Thunder Dome with guest speaker Senator Kirk Watson. Senator Watson not only rides a motorcycle, but is an strong advocate for motorcycle safety. We are also asking for his help in getting our anti-profiling bill submitted in the next legislative session, January 2017. It was a very good meeting, and we also had guests from other states come to the ROT rally specifically for this meeting. For the group photo that is part of this set we were also joined by Jerry and Colleen Bragg, the organizers of the ROT Rally. After the meeting, we worked at the Hospitality Tent, and had a pretty busy day. Finally we headed out to Manor for some great Mexican cuisine. Yum!
