Debbie and I went to Bandido Smokey’s birthday party today out at Ernie’s on the Lake. We had the down stairs room with Air Conditioning, which was really nice, since it was kind of warm today. The room was decorated nicely in his favorite colors, red and gold of course, and quite a few people showed up to wish Smokey a happy birthday. One of the highlights of the day was that one of Smoky’s friends that owns a ski boat came and a bunch of us got to go for a ride out on the lake. That was very nice, and certainly the highlight for this of us that don’t get to go boating very often. Later there was cake and dancing. The band was great, playing lots of oldies I liked. Smokey even got up there to help out.

The Bandidos had their 13th annual Summer Sizzle at Ernie’s on the Lake this year, and as you might imagine, it was well attended. We arrived a bit after noon, and there were already quite a few people there. Ernie’s has quite good food, so Debbie and I shared the Fish Tacos, which was just right as a relatively light lunch for the two of us. In addition to good food, there was a silent auction, and live auction, and a DJ playing some good tunes. I brought about 25 copies of my latest book, the Monochrome edition of “UCOA: The Biker Experience”, and made them available for donations. The went fast, and I continued to receive requests, so I will be bringing another 25 to the UCOA Meeting next month. We made the rounds, saying hello, enjoying the air conditioning. Eventually we worked our way out to the deck by the water to enjoy the view. Eventually they brought everyone back inside, for twelve auction, which had some really nice items. We didn’t bid on those, but Debbie did manage to win one of the silent auction items, a little chrome clock for one of her bikes. Eventually things started to wind down, or maybe we were winding down, I’m not sure. Anyway we headed home, and stopped at the DQ on the way to cool down a bit. Definitely a good day.

A friend Johnny gave Debbie a necklace made by Nikki.

Nikki is an artist, and she made these to earn a little extra income. They were very nice.

UCOA Meeting for March at Ernie’s On The Lake

We had our second UCOA meeting at Ernie’s on the Lake, and with the cool weather I thought attendance might be down some, but we had a good crowd. Debbie and i got there early to have lunch, and it seems I am starting to make a habit of having Ernie’s burgers, cause they are quite good. The agenda was pretty normal, with quite a few events announced, including our New Life Rider’s Bug Run that will happen next month on the day before Easter. When I announced it I said Mothers Day, but fortunately someone remind me that Mother’s Day is in May, not April, so I was able to correctly say the day before Easter. I think I need to study my holidays better. Any way, be sure to check the calendar on the UCOA web site for al the coming events.
