Bike Wash, CTHD, US Military Vets

CTHD hosted the  bikini bike wash today put on by US Military Vets MC, benefiting an organization called Motorcycle Missions (MM). MM works with Vets to provide various methods for treating PTSD. We spoke with them for a while, and it seems like a very worthwhile organization.

Note: I took along my new/old camera that shoots FUJI Instant Film. It is very challenging to get good pictures, but I did manage to get a few, and they are include with the set. You can recognize them by their white border.

Christopher Ward, COC&I Chili Fest, CTHD

Well, today was a full day. Fortunately all this took place at the same location, so we just headed over to Central Texas Harley Davidson this morning. First was the meet and greet with Christopher Ward, a conservative who is running for House of Representatives District 52. He is a great guy, and I wish I lived in his district. The meet and greet also included a Holiday Food Drive benefiting The Veterans Collective and Clubs For Kids. Next up was the Chili Cookoff. I think this is about the fifth year it has been happening because my friend Ragu said he has been trying to win it for five years. Keep trying Ragu! Your chili was very good, though it might have been on the “a bit too hot” side this year. Finally we had the COC&I meeting, led by our Region 1 Commander MiniMe. We heard from several speakers and then after Honor Bound Frank’s closing prayer they announced the cookout winners. Well, it’s time for my nap. Enjoy the pics;

CTHD, Tony Raum

Well, the weather isn’t very good today, with the rain an all, so I wandered over to CTHD (Central Texas Harley Davidson) in the car to see if I could find something interesting to take pictures of. The trip was definitely a success, at least from my standpoint. In particular because I found a fellow named Tony relaxing on the front porch of the store (in his own green folding chair). Seems Tony is kind of a fixture at CTHD. He comes over on Saturdays, mostly to watch whatever goes by. We struck up a conversation, and swapped stories for a while. Eventually I asked Tony if I could take his picture, to which he replied sure.  So, I shot a couple and managed to get a pretty good one I think. I offered to email it to him, but he said he doesn’t even have a computer. Hmm.. Well, then I offered to mail him a print, to which he agreed that would be fine. I did just order him a print, but it turns out it’s a bit bigger than he is expecting. We talked about an 8×10, but I wanted to send him a hard backed print that would stand up by itself without being frames. Turns out they only make them in 11×14. So, I hope he can find room for a big print.

After visiting CTHD, I stopped in at one of my favorite antique stores to wander around and look for more religious books for my collection. i didn’t find any, but I did manage to get a photo for my Facebook profile. I hope you like the pictures;

COCI Chili Cook-off, CTHD

Our second activity today was to attend the COC&I meeting and Chili Cook-off at Central Texas Harley Davidson today.  There were lots of competitors for the chili cook-off, and though I can’t say I tried them all, I did try a whole bunch of them. All I tried were very good. I can’t imagine being a judge,, I just don’t know how you would decide.After the judging, we had the COC&I meeting, and then gave away the trophies. Congratulations to all the winners, especially the third place win for our New Life Riders CMA chapter. Everyone had a good time, and as much chili as they could handle.

Capital Area Food bank, CTHD, Painted Churches, True Few Food Drive

We had two stops today, first we went to the starting point of the chapter ride to pick up the food donations from our chapter members that were heading out on the Painted Churches ride, then a little later we headed over to CTHD for the Spring Food Drive where True Few were collecting canned and other goods for the Capital Area Food bank. when we left, in early afternoon, they had already collected eight full boxes, at around 100 pounds per box, so they had a very good turnout. Here are a few pics;
