Well, the last day of the conference is here. Today we have fellowship, worship and the Word. Duane Gryder preached today, and his sermon was all about works… I mean Grace… Well, actually it was all about how we are saved by Grace, and how the works naturally follow because we love our Lord, and all He has done for us, and will do through us. It was very good. After the service, we helped out a little with cleanup and then headed over to Lucky Dog for a light lunch. Good Stuff. Good Stuff. While we were there, we met a young man that recently moved to Austin from Indiana. We had a really nice talk, and I just had to take his picture, that is what I do after all. I like the effect of the colorful globe lights on his skin. Enjoy.
Wow, another great day at the Christian unity Conference at the American Legion Hall in Round Rock. We heard two great sermons today, or maybe I should say four great sermons if you count the legislative updated from Bandido Gimmi Jimmy and Escondido Paul, both of which were also excellent. At lunch we headed to the Little Red Wagon Hamburgers Restaurant. I can see why this little old building is still in business, they do have great burgers. Oh, and they also have good air conditioning. The conference ran until about 5pm, then we had a break till the concert started at 6:30pm. The band was Southern Glory, a Christian Rock Blues band from the San Antonio area. Excellent sound!
Tomorrow is the final day of the conference, finishing up with a Sunday service starting at 10:30am, and the Word at 11:00.
Tonight was the first night of the Christian Unity Conference that is running all weekend. We started out with a time of fellowship, sort of a meet and greet, then rolled into worship with some great praise songs, and then we hears pastor Ron Baptiste brought the word. I had no idea what to expect, but I was certainly blessed. I particularly likes one of the saying he uses; “If God commissions you, then God will pay for it, and if you commission yourself, then you have to pay for it”. Hmm, I don’t think I can afford to go, unless God has sent me, and then I can’t afford not to go. After Ron spoke, we had a time of prayer. Wonderful!
It all starts again in the morning beginning with coffee and donuts at 9:30am. I hope to see you there, you will be blessed!
The first annual Christian Unity Conference is this weekend, starting Friday evening at 6:30 pm and continuing through Sunday at noon. If you are a christian, ride a motorcycle, or are just interested in hearing some good preaches, speakers and music, come on out.
The festivities start Friday evening with worship and a message from Ron Baptiste with Covenant Confirmers. Here is a quote from his web site;
“PASTOR RON’S UNIQUE TESTIMONY BEGINS WITH HIS CONVERSION TO JESUS CHRIST THROUGH “PRISON MINISTRY” IN 1970. RON HAD A VERY VIOLENT NATURE WHICH CAUSED HIS INCARCERATION, ADDICTED TO DRUGS, ALCOHOL, AND VIOLENCE, BUT WHAT THE DEVIL MEANT TO KILL HIM WITH, GOD HAS TURNED TO HIS GOOD!”
On Saturday the conference gets into full swing with donuts and coffee at 9:30am, worship at 10am, and Ron speaking at 11am.
The afternoon session begins at 3pm with reports and encouragement from COC&I State Chairman Bandido “Gimmi” Jimmy, and Escondido Paul from US Defenders. Worship begins at 3:30pm and Rick Dubose will speak at 4pm. Rick is the North Texas District Superintendent with the Assemblies of God. Here is a quote from the NTD web site;
“Pastor Rick DuBose was elected as North Texas District Superintendent in 2007. Before being elected as our Superintendent he was Assistant Superintendent from 2005 to 2007. Pastor Rick pastored Sachse Assembly of God, now North Place Church, from 1987-2005. While pastor at Sachse the church grew from 17 people to in excess of 800. He also pastored at Hallsville Assembly of God, Hallsville, TX. During his pastorate in Sachse he was honored by Sachse Chamber of Commerce “Man of the Year” in 2001. He also served on the World Missions Board from 2001-2003, served as the North Dallas Presbyter and has been an Executive Presbyter since 2003.”
Saturday evening we will be blessed with a concert featuring Southern Glory beginning at 7pm, so you will want to get there early to get a seat. Southern Glory describes themselves as a Christian Southern Rock band. Here is a clip from their their web site;
“Southern Glory is NOTHING without God! And……..we will OWN your stage with authentic, southern-fried rock and roll with some Texas blues thrown in just because we can………….just sayin………….”
The activities will wrap up Sunday morning, starting at 10:30am with worship, and then at 11pm we will hear from Duane Gryder of HonorBound Motorcycle Ministry. Duane is a Missionary with the Assemblies of God church, and you can also find more about him at; Desert Highway Ministries. From his web site;
“Sometimes you need to know who you have become, before you can become who you need to be – R. Duane Gryder”
It is going to be a great time, y’all come on out! Oh, it’s also free!
I almost forgot, the conference will be held at the American Legion Hall in Round Rock. See the flyer below;
Well, the busy motorcycle season is upon us, we had the COC&I state rally this past weekend, Christian Unity tonight, UCOA tomorrow night, and Max’s Ride this Saturday at Cowboy HD. The meeting went well tonight, we talked about the rally this past weekend, and how it went very well and we even had good weather at least during the day. The Christian Unity Conference is coming the 24th-26th, and that should be pretty interesting as well. We will have several good speakers, including Gimmi Jimmy and Escondido Paul on Saturday afternoon. Put it on your calendar.
