We started out with the kiddy egg hunt at Patterson Neighborhood Park. We wanted all the kids that showed up to have a great time, so snacks and juice boxes were provided, along with candy inside eggs of course. We got help from a bunch of the clubs to provide and distribute eggs at the park before the kids arrived. Patterson has a huge grassy area and lots of trees as well, so there were plenty of places to hide eggs. Once the kids got started though, I don’t think they had any trouble filling their bags with candy eggs. Everyone seemed to have a great time. Oh, and did I mention that we got one of our Companeros to wear the Bunny suit. The kids loved him! After all the hunting, we headed off to Texas Mist for some relaxation time and hot dogs before heading home.
We had the UCOA meeting this evening, and we had lots of people there. As is to be expected, there were a lot of announcements about events coming up next month, so be sure to go to the UCOA calendar at the UCOA web site; http://www.ucotexas.org/Austin.html. Of particular note is the Children’s Easter Egg Hunt that will happen the morning of the Bunny Run. It will be March 20th, starting at 10AM at Patterson Neighborhood Park, 4200 Brookview Road, Austin, 78722. After the egg hunt, the 26th Annual Bunny Run will be down the road at Texas Mist starting at noon. All the clubs are asked to support the Easter Egg Hunt by providing 1-2 dozen plastic legs filled with candy (no peanut butter anything please). Contact me for details of where to drop off the eggs if you didn’t get it at the meeting.
We had the Bunny Run this morning at Texas Mist. The festivities started at 11am, with the egg hunt for the kids. It might seem odd to have an egg hunt in a club, but I can tell yo tag the young ones didn’t mind at all. The $5 entry fee goes to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas, and included a hot dog, chips and a cookie. Nothing like a light lunch before running around searching for eggs. The adult egg hunt was to begin at Noon, where you ride around to specific destinations looking for eggs. Everyone had a good time, even the adults 🙂
