Today was day two of this weeks event at Bentwood Texas in Georgetown. Today we had the BBQ judging and various live auctions. Plus the drawing for the Veterans Collective bike giveaway. As you will see from the photos, the winner was very happy to receive the bike. There was extra BBQ left over from the judging, so most everyone got to try some. Debbie was invited to be a judge, so that was a good experience for her. The gave her a little training so that she didn’t write a book on each contestants BBQ she tested. Overall, this was a very fun day. A bit hot, but somehow not as hot as yesterday. I managed to make it though without falling asleep in a chair. The final event of the day was the weeny bite, but since we only had one contestant, somehow they managed to win. It was all in good fun. Enjoy the photos;
Today was the first day of the Sweat Hog rally, and while it wasn’t absolutely toasty like it was last month, it was still in the 90s. Saturday is usually a little light early on, but we still had great pulled pork plates for lunch, and some excellent music from a couple of live bands, and a great DJ playing some of my favorite rock tunes from the 60s. The kids that came got to enjoy a huge blow-up slide. I think I got a little overheated, cause Debbie tells me I fell asleep in a chair. Fortunately she didn’t think to take my picture, so there is no actual evidence. Later in the afternoon, it started to cool down, so it was a lot more comfortable. Tomorrow will be the BBQ cook-off, with the cooking being done on-site and starting at midnight tonight. It should be pretty exciting! Oh, and finally, on the way home for the evening, we had to stop and take a picture of some local gentlemen out for a horseback ride. Who would have thought it, horses in Texas?
We had our regular monthly UCOA meeting at Bentwood Texas this afternoon, with a big group of people in attendance. There were several events announced, so be sure to look at our brand new web site, courtesy of Sintax. Goto: http://austin.ucotexas.org Great job Sintax!
We also had the drawing for the Mossburg shotgun that generated donations that benefit the HOBO (Help Our Brothers Out) fund, supporting local needs in our area. It’s been good day, now I need a nap 🙂
We had the August UCOA meeting out in Georgetown at the Bentwood event facility, graciously provided by Ernie the owner and good friend of our community. So if you need a place for a wedding or a fairly large party, Bentwood is a great location.
Anyway, the meeting was very good today, Summer must be almost over, cause there were a bunch of events announced. So get ready for the Fall season, cause it’s almost here. And be sure to check out the Austin calendar at http://ucotexas.org
Debbie and I went to the UCOA meeting out at the Bentwood Texas event center in Georgetown after church today. We had very good attendance, at a great location, and fortunately the rain held off as well and we have pleasant temperatures. The main focus of the meeting was about the upcoming ROT Rally, and we were strongly encouraged to keeper eyes open while riding, to watch out for all those RVs with bikes on trailers trying to get to the rally. As someone once said, it’s going to be hot, it’s going to be crazy out there on the roads, so keep your head on a swivel and drink lots of water. Definitely a good recommendation.
