We had out monthly UCOA meeting yesterday up at Bentwood Texas Event Center. Thank you Ernie for your amazing hospitality. There are lots of event coming up, so be sure to check the calendar at; http://austin.ucotexas.org/calendar. Just a few photos today, enjoy!
This is the first of two events this weekend. We arrived at Bentwood late afternoon, as the festivities were just getting started. This is a family event, so there were a number of children attending. The weather was quite warm, but Praise God we got several short spurts of rain that went through that cooled things off nicely. Amount the entertainment for the evening was a bull ride for the adults and a water slide for the kids. We had some problems with the Bull Ride initially, it would go around, but it wouldn’t buck. Fortunately a couple of Companeros managed to get it going. Seems there was a loose connection. As you can see from the photos, the kids really enjoyed the water slide, and Debbie said one young man said “This is the best day of my whole life”. Pretty high praise coming from a 6-7 year old. Companero Ragu volunteered for his annual Bull Ride, but I think he might have said this was his last. I wouldn’t even let Debbie try it, it looked too dangerous to me. Anyway, there were brisket tacos, a silent auction, live auction, music, and I even saw some dancing. All in all, a pretty great event.
This is a two day event, so we went out this afternoon for a relaxing but hot time. Fortunately Bentwood has lots of shade, and fans, and misters, to help keep the heat down. We had a great time socializing, including Debbie participating in the wheel of knives, and me getting to shoot a photo of the custom Doritos chip that just had to be created specially for the occasion. WE hung around till a little after 4pm, then the heat started to get the better of us, and we headed home to the AC. Fear not though, we will be back out tomorrow for the BBQ Cookoff. If you ain’t got nothin to do tomorrow, come on out and enjoy the…. heat… Oh, and a taste of some great BBQ too! This is a competition, so there isn’t a lot of BBQ for the spectators to fill up on, but there is always plenty to get a taste of, and that is free as long as it lasts.
Well, our egg hunt was delayed because of weather, and it looked like it might happen again, but fortunately the temperatures came up enough so that we could all have a really good time with the kids and family out at Bentwood Texas. So, without further delay, here are my photos of the extravaganza. Sooo Many Eggs!!
We had the February UCOA meeting today out at Bentwood Texas in Georgetown. The weather was definitely better than last week when we canceled the meeting because of weather. There were quite a few event announcements, so be sure to check the UCOA calendar at http://ucotexas.org for all the details. After the meeting, I saw Rob with his FXR in the parking area, so I had to take his picture. You will find three renditions of that shot, sort of titled Normal, Vivid, and Oh My Gosh. Be sure to take a look at the end of the photos.
