We had a meeting and training session for COC&I, up at Bentwood Texas event center in Georgetown today. The meetings kicked off at about 11am, and ended at about 1pm, then the Medical Benefit for Bandido Lowrider’s Wife started after that. There were taco plates, which I must say were very good, with all the fixings of course. I should remember who catered it, but I don’t remember. Sorry. After lunch, The Dunk Tank started up with Gypsy MiniMe, and then continued with Bandido Dennis. The both did a great job, and I think there were more later, but i didn’t catch those names. The temperatures today were wonderful, in the mid 70s. It was kind of humid, but not bad. Music was provided by a… Uh… Very young band. The good news is they were pretty good. I didn’t get any video, but you will notice in the photos that the lead singer was about 10. No, not 10 feet tall, 10 years old, and very energetic she was. Ok, enough from me, here are some photos and a couple of GIFs from todays event.
Latin Steel James is fighting Kidney Cancer, and the treatments are costing a bunch, so his brothers put on a BBQ place benefit today for him. After Debbie and I finished withQuilt Guild setup at the Pflugerville Library, we headed out to Montopolis in Austin to visit James and have a late lunch. The BBQ chicken was wonderful of course, as were the fixings that came with. We got to fellowship a bit with some friends and we were blessed to pray with James before we left. Please keep him in your prayers for complete healing.
Round Rock Tavern and Veterans of Foreign Wars Motorcycle Group co-hosted a benefit for Cyclops (Calvin Koether) to assist with his on-going medical expenses. We were reminded of it as we were cruising FaceBook, and decided to head on over. We weren’t sure we had the right place ’cause there weren’t any bikes in the parking lot, but it turns out they were all out on the ride. We went inside and were warmly greeted and told to make ourselves at home and the bikes would be back in a while. They had a bunch of silent auction items, some live auction goodies (cakes and pies…yum), and a pool tournament was in progress. Later we enjoyed a Ribeye BBQ plate with all the fixins’, the riders returned, Calvin was applauded. We even watched a poker tournament, all before the live auction started. Busy place.
