We joined about three hundred other folks at Cowboy Harley Davidson for the start of Max’s Ride, a benefit to raise funds for ALS research. There were lots of clubs, independents and HOG members there, and we had truly wonderful weather. After a short ceremony, some group riding instructions and a prayer by Bandido OneWire, the ride headed out to the next stop. After everyone left, Debbie and i had to go in and look at new bikes of course. No, we didn’t buy anything.
Don and I went to the Christian Unity meeting this evening at IHOP down at IH35 and Cesar Chavez. Christian Unity is a relatively new group that is made up of the Christian Chaplains of the local Motorcycle Clubs, Ride Groups and motorcycle ministries. Our goal is simply to work together to assist our various clubs (our flock if you will) with prayer and physical assistance of various kinds.
We had a pretty good group, probably about 15 of us met for dinner and discussion. Frank of HonorBound is chairing the group, and Bandido OneWire is our J. W. Rock liaison. We talked about the December benefits, specifically the Helping Hand toy run on December 1st, the Texas Baptist Children’s Home toy run on December 8th, and J.W.Rock toy and food delivery on December 22nd that provides food and presents to about 30 families at Christmas time. Worthy causes all. The J.W.Rock Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization the has been delivering food baskets and toys to families since at least 2001. Just a few pics this evening, enjoy;
