Anti-profiling bill, ihop, NLR Chapter Meeting

We had our October New Life Riders chapter meeting this evening at IHOP. There was lots of business, including the nomination of new officers for the 2017 year starting in January. Elections are next month. We had a special speaker that gave a presentation on driver safety that was well received. We also had several testimonies, including one from Don who goes into prisons to share the gospel. This past weekend he was privileged to go into a youth prison and share with a bunch of inmates. He said four of those that heard accepted Christ as their saviour. All I can say is AMEN!

Oh, and lest I forget, Debbie brought along a clipboard with the petition to Stop motorcyclist profiling, and got about a page and a half of signatures from the meeting, and from bike night next door at the Brickhouse. I even got a signature from a guy that happened to walk into IHOP for dinner as we were leaving. He said he was definitely for anything that would stop profiling. Enjoy the photos;

Oh, one more thing; The last photo is Debbie presenting Louis with a Scorpion pepper, corralled in a little plastic container. Louis promised it wouldn’t go to waste   😉

COC&I Meeting for September at the Roadhouse

Anti-profiling bill, COC&I Meeting, roadhouse, Waco

We attended the COC&I meeting today at the Roadhouse. We heard from our legislative warriors about the anti-profiling bill we are fighting for during the next legislative session. The reason there is a need for such a bill, is because we have repeatedly seen instances of motorcycle riders being asked to leave restaurants, bars and other establishments because they are wearing motorcycle vests or club patches. We have also seen even more serious cases, such as the Waco incident in May 2015, where police assumed that 200 motorcycle riders that got together for a political meeting were all involved in a skirmish that took place outside the event. But for the Grace of God, I and my wife would have been arrested as well, except that we arrived a bit late because of traffic. The really sad thing about that day, is that nine people died.

So, we are very serious about not wanting this to ever happen again, and one small way you can help, is to support the anti-profiling bill we are putting forward. We already have a sponsor, but we need signatures of support from any one that has been  part of, or even any one that has heard about motorcycle profiling occurring. If you have watched thew news in the last year, or read anything about Waco, you most likely know someone that was effected by this injustice.

Here is a link to go sign the petition. It will ask for your name, zip code and email address.

If you would like to print out the petition page and take it to a  club meeting, download the pdf, print it and get the signatures.

Anti-profiling bill, ROT Rally, Senator Kirk Watson, Texas Mist, UCOA

We had the UCOA meeting this evening, with several new events being announced. It was also especially good that ROT is over, and no one from the community was killed or severely damaged in the process. The anti-profiling protest Saturday came off without a hitch, and it was great to have some out of state visitors here in support. Of course one of the highlights of the meeting was the visit from Senator Kirk Watson in support of the cause. Be sure t check out the UCOA calendar on UCOTexas.org.

Anti-profiling bill, ROT Rally, Senator Kirk Watson

Ok,last full day of the ROT Rally. First up was the anti-profiling meeting up in the SkyBox in the Thunder Dome with guest speaker Senator Kirk Watson. Senator Watson not only rides a motorcycle, but is an strong advocate for motorcycle safety. We are also asking for his help in getting our anti-profiling bill submitted in the next legislative session, January 2017. It was a very good meeting, and we also had guests from other states come to the ROT rally specifically for this meeting. For the group photo that is part of this set we were also joined by Jerry and Colleen Bragg, the organizers of the ROT Rally. After the meeting, we worked at the Hospitality Tent, and had a pretty busy day. Finally we headed out to Manor for some great Mexican cuisine. Yum!

Anti-profiling bill, ROT Rally

Well, things are really beginning to liven up at the ROT Rally, with lots more people. We drove to the rally site this morning to work hospitality, but before that I went to the meet and greet meeting at 10am up in the skybox. We had several visitor from out of state to participate in the discussion about our anti-profiling bill that will be prepared for the next legislative session. Tomorrow we will have the main meeting, same place, same time and we will be joined by one of our senators. Should be pretty interesting. I think I got quite a few good pictures today, so I hope you enjoy them.
