Peace, or rather the lack of it has probably been on all of our minds lately. It is hard to be at peace when the world is full of so much turmoil. And, it’s not just Las Vegas, it seems to be everywhere. From hurricanes in Houston, South Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico, to gun violence in Chicago, San Bernardino, Orlando, and the list goes on. It’s hard to feel safe when a crazy person or terrorist could be around the corner in the local Walmart, or could even show-up where we work. Some of us buy more guns in an attempt to be ready. Concealed Carry permits are being obtained at an all time high rate.
Some people say we should get rid of all guns, but we know that if guns weren’t available, then a bad person would just find something else to use. Guns aren’t the problem, people are the problem.
So,where do we find peace, in our guns, or maybe in a mountain hideaway, as far from humanity as possible. Those things would probably help, to some extent, but that kind of peace only goes so far, and it doesn’t last. True peace, and yes you already know where I’m going.
True peace comes only from God. When you have a personal relationship with the Creator of the universe, the One that holds everyone of us in His hand. He will give you and me His True peace. A peace that surpasses all that buying guns or hiding away can provide.
In John 14:27 Jesus says; “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.”
What does Jesus mean when he says he doesn’t give peace like the world does. The answer is simple, He gives us His peace, a peace that has power, because He has power. So, if you are feeling a little ragged with all that is happening in the world these days, why not change your focus to the One who is truly able to give you peace. That is what I desire, and that is what Jesus will give.
Talk to me later if you want true peace.
