Our CMA chapter is having the annual 8 chapter campout this weekend. This year we are at the Baptist Encampment on Pace Bend Road. One of our members works part time at the facility, and they have a home there. They graciously opened their home and “porch” for all the activities. The house actually has a covered porch that goes all the way around the outside of the house. Pretty neat. Debbie and I aren’t doing any camping, so we went out the for day. and a great day it was. Food, fellowship and fun.
We had the Christian Unity meeting for May at Bill Miller’s B-B-Q this evening, and the BBQ was Bill Miller tasty as usual. We had a good group, and we talked about how well the Christian Unity Conference went. The events coming up are the UCOA meeting next Wednesday, the COC&I meeting Sunday up in Waco at Twin Peaks, and the ROT rally in early June.
Debbie and I went to the bike wash put on by the US Military Vets today. We had big thunder and rain this morning, so we thought they might cancel, but come lunch time the rain had passed. We headed over just before lunch and sure enough they were setting up. Several clubs did show up though probably not as many as hoped. Twin Peaks does have pretty good food. We have had their burgers before, so today we tried their Nachos. I can only say it was big enough for two with left overs. Oh, and Debbie won a shirt 🙂
We had our May Chapter Meeting this evening at IHOP, and it was well attended. There were lots of activities in April to talk about, and more coming up this month. Now that I am not an officer, I have a lot less preparation to do for the meeting, which was fine with me, as I had a busy day at work. It was nice to just relax and enjoy the food and fellowship. After the meeting, we scooted on over to the Brick House to visit with friends and enjoy some music at the the Legacy and Heroes bike nite. Enjoy the pics.
There were several events going on today, but we chose to go the our CMA Run for the Son ride to Fredericksburg. We have done this for the last several years on this the first Saturday in May. We meet on the lawn outside the Fredericksburg library where the is lots of shade. Run for the Son is CMA’s only fund raiser, and it raises moneys to support three overseas missions and CMA’s home mission to spread the Gospel in the US. No money is used for administration, it all goes for the mission. Here is a link to the CMA web page for Run for the Son; Cma Run for the Son
We heard at the event that our chapter raised over $5000 this year.
